1. Who we are

Do It Detail is a mobile auto detailing business operating in Dublin, Ohio and the surrounding Central Ohio area. This policy explains what we collect when you book with us, why we collect it, and what we do and do not do with it.

Questions about anything here: email zander@doitdetail.com or call (614) 671-9267.

2. What we collect

  • Contact details — your name and mobile number, and your email address if you give us one.
  • Service address — where the vehicle will be, including any access notes you add.
  • Vehicle and service details — what you are booking and anything you tell us about the vehicle.
  • Appointment records — your bookings, their status, and notes attached to them.
  • SMS consent records — whether you agreed to receive text messages, the exact wording you agreed to, and when you agreed or opted out.
  • Limited technical data — your IP address at the time of a booking request, used to rate-limit abuse of the booking form.
  • Website usage — which pages you visit, how you arrived, and whether a visit ended in a booking request. Collected through Google Analytics; see section 4.

We do not collect payment card details through this website. Payment is arranged directly.

3. Why we use it

  • To schedule, confirm, and carry out the detailing work you booked.
  • To contact you about your appointment — confirmations, changes, and arrival coordination.
  • To keep a service history for your vehicle so repeat work is easier.
  • To protect the booking system from automated abuse.
  • To meet legal and tax record-keeping obligations.
  • To understand how this website is found and used, and which advertising brings people to it — see section 4.

We do not use your information for automated decision-making, and we do not profile you to decide what you are shown or charged. Your name, address and phone number are collected to do the job you booked. They are not sold, and they are not used to target advertising at you — but a hashed form of them is used to measure whether an ad worked, which section 4 sets out in full.

4. Cookies, analytics and advertising

This site uses Google Analytics to measure how it is found and used — which pages people read, which source brought them, and whether a visit ended in a booking request. It sets cookies in your browser to do that, and it shares your IP address and page activity with Google as part of it.

We also advertise this business on Google. When you arrive from one of those ads, the link carries an identifier that lets us see the ad led to a booking request. What comes back to us is a count and a value — how many bookings an ad produced and what they were worth — not a list of who clicked what.

Two things about a completed booking do reach Google. The first is the booking itself: its reference number and the amount of the work, so an ad can be credited with what it produced. The second is a feature called “enhanced conversions” — a hashed copy of contact details from that page, such as your name, phone number, email or address, each turned into an irreversible string of characters before it leaves your browser. Google uses it to confirm the booking was real. It does not receive those details in readable form, and it is not sent your vehicle details or the access notes you wrote for us.

That is the only point at which advertising touches what you type into the booking form, and it is why this section changed on the date at the top of this page. If you would rather it did not happen, the options below apply.

  • Cookies — browser settings can block or clear them, and Google offers an opt-out add-on for Analytics. The site works normally either way; nothing about booking depends on them.
  • Ad personalisation — the Google tag here also lets us reach people who have visited this site with ads on Google’s other services. You can turn ad personalisation off for your whole Google account at myadcenter.google.com, which covers this site and every other one.
  • Asking us — you can ask us to delete what WE hold at any time, using the details in section 1. We cannot delete what Google holds; the two links above are the way to reach that.

5. Text messages and who we share data with

If you agree to text messages when booking, we send you messages about that appointment: that we received your request, and whether it was confirmed or declined. These are transactional messages, not marketing.

No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. All of the above categories exclude text messaging originator opt-in data and consent; this information will not be shared with any third parties.

Outside of that, we share information only with service providers who run parts of this system on our behalf, and only as far as they need it to do so — our website and database hosting, and our SMS provider, which transmits the messages. They are bound to use it only to provide that service. We do not sell your information to anyone, for any purpose.

We may disclose information where the law requires it, or where it is necessary to establish or defend a legal claim.

6. Your choices about text messages

  • Opting out — reply STOP to any message and we will stop texting that number. You can also ask us directly.
  • Opting back in — reply START.
  • Help — reply HELP, or contact us using the details above.
  • Frequency — expect roughly one to three messages per appointment. Message and data rates may apply.

Opting out of texts does not cancel your appointment. If you opt out we will contact you by phone or email instead.

7. How long we keep it

We keep appointment and customer records for as long as you remain a customer and for a further seven years afterwards, which covers the record-keeping periods that apply to the business. Consent and opt-out records are kept for as long as we are required to be able to demonstrate them.

8. How it is protected

Information is stored in an access-controlled database. Traffic to and from this site is encrypted in transit. Access is limited to the people who need it to run the business. No system is perfectly secure, and we do not claim otherwise — but we do not keep more than we need, which is the most effective protection available.

9. Your rights

You can ask us what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it where we are not required to keep it. Contact us using the details in section 1 and we will respond within a reasonable period.

10. Children

This service is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.

11. Changes to this policy

If we change this policy we will update the date at the top of this page. Material changes to how we handle text messaging will be reflected here before they take effect.
